The Ghosts of Waverly Hills

Though the U.S. is home to dozens of abandoned hospitals, each with a reputation for ghosts, one facility stands out from the rest: Waverly Hills. The former sanatorium regularly tops “most haunted” rankings and has appeared on just about every ghost hunting show in America. Here’s why the hospital has become so popular among fans of the paranormal.

The History

Waverly Hills Sanatorium opened its doors on July 26, 1910 and housed thousands of patients suffering from tuberculosis. The facility originally accommodated between 40 and 50 patients, but expanded to hold over 400 at a time.
Waverly operated for over 50 years, but a new antibiotic drastically eliminated tuberculosis cases, and the hospital closed its doors in 1962. A renovated Waverly reopened as Wood Haven Medical Services a year later, but closed in 1980 after officials found appalling evidence of patient neglect.
Though death estimates vary widely, at least 6,000 people died at Waverly Hills during its 50+ years in operation. Patients often suffered through agonizing treatments during their time at Waverly, including electroshock therapy and experimental surgeries that involved collapsing a lung. The practice of placing heavy sandbags on a patient’s chest was also common. More often than not, the excruciating treatments were not effective.

Timmy

Now a tourist attraction, Waverly Hills is reportedly home a number of ghosts. There are the standard haunted tales of disembodied screams, moans, and shadow people, as well as stories that are unique to the hospital. One of these tales involves a ball-rolling child named Timmy.
Legend has it Timmy was a six or seven-year-old boy who died at Waverly but has yet to move on. Visitors often bring toy balls to the hospital and invite the ghostly child to play. The balls sometimes move, seemingly of their own volition, but critics say a draft or an uneven floor is to blame for the movement, not a ghost child.

Room 502

Another creepy legend involves a pregnant nurse who allegedly committed suicide in Room 502. Some tales claim a doctor impregnated the nurse and then wanted nothing to do with her. Devastated, the woman hanged herself from an exposed pipe or light fixture. Other versions claim it was the hospital’s owner who impregnated the woman and that she jumped from the room rather than hanging herself. Regardless of the tale, many Waverly visitors are convinced that an anguished entity lurks in Room 502.

The Death Tunnel

An underground tunnel leads from Waverly’s main entrance to the bottom of a steep hill some 500 feet (or 150 meters) down. Staff used the tunnel to receive supplies in the winter when the hill was both inconvenient and difficult for suppliers to ascend. However, it’s likely that doctors also used the tunnel to get rid of bodies. One legend claims that tuberculosis claimed one patient per hour during the height of the epidemic and that doctors used the tunnel to remove the dead without upsetting the living.
The so-called “death tunnel” is now a paranormal hotspot, visitors say, complete with eerie shadows, unexplained footsteps, and disembodied voices. It’s also known among investigators for providing chilling EVPs.

Charlie and Tina Mattingly, the current owners of Waverly Hills, plan to turn the facility into a four-star hotel catering to history buffs and those intrigued by the supernatural. Some worry the transformation will eliminate the spooks, but given Waverly’s paranormal reputation, it seems unlikely the ghosts will be scared off by a little noise and dust.

HORRIFYING: WOMAN IS KILLED BY BOLT OF LIGHTNING ON BEACH

This image shows the horrifying moment a woman was killed by a bolt of lightning in front of her family.
Married mother-of-one Rosangela Biaveti died instantly when she was struck by lightning on a Brazilian beach.

The first photograph shows the victim heading towards the water with outstretched arms as she warns her 11-year-old son to get out of the sea because of the gathering storm overhead. The next image captures the electrical discharge streaking down.
A pickup truck obscures the bolt hitting the woman, but moments later her lifeless body was dragged onto the beach for resuscitation.
According to the Mail, her distraught husband Leandro Lopes Santos said:
’The weather started to close in and we decided to leave. I was putting our bags into the car, and the kids were on the beach.
‘The next minute my wife was lying on the floor. I received a mild shock.’
Elias Biavati, the woman’s brother, added: ‘When I saw my sister she was already lying on the ground and people were trying to revive her by massaging her heart.’
Lightning bolts are common in parts of Brazil at this time of year, according to climatologists.

Skydiver Almost Hit By Meteorite: Unbelievable Video Of Norwegian Anders Helstrup's Near Miss

A Norwegian skydiver has captured the unbelievable moment he was almost hit by a falling meteorite.
Anders Helstrup recorded the falling rock as he completed a skydive and was not hurt. In fact he barely saw it when it happened:
"I got the feeling that there was something, but I didn't register what was happening," he told NKR.
But when he looked at the film he knew he had caught something very, very rare indeed on camera. In fact it's the first ever film of a meteorite fragment falling to Earth at terminal velocity - a process known as "dark flight".
It is thought the meteorite was part of a larger rock which had exploded 20 kilometres above Helstrup.
According to Hans Amundsen at the Natural History Museum in Oslo, the chances of this happening are "much less likely than winning the lottery three times in a row".

8-year-old exorcist 'saving Brazilian slums'

The 8-year-old daughter of a pastor has been giving hope to some of Brazil's poorest people.

The slums of San Gonzalo on the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro are rife with sickness and poverty, yet hope still exists for its people in the form of a young girl, Alani Santos, who many believe to be capable of curing the sick and performing exorcisms despite being only 8 years old.

"A lot of the time I touch people, sometimes I just pray and worship and the person is cured," she says. "It's the part when I pray and God performs miracles, my dad interviews people and they say they've been cured. That's very pleasing to see."

(Real Video Footage) Abducted By Demons! The Terrifying Truth Behind What They Do, and Their Sinister Plan For Humanity!

Demonic abductions, believe it or not, are real.  They can occur anywhere, at any given time; however, there seems to be a particular  pattern.

Most victims state that they see a bright light, or many bright lights, from a window.  Shortly thereafter, a presence either enters the room through the wall, or appears standing by the bed.  These cases also involve Paralyzation, where the victim is unable to speak or move.  Many are floated out of the room as they are beamed into an alien craft, which is awaiting them.  After they have been taken aboard the craft, their clothing is removed and they are placed upon an exam room table where various tests and experiments are performed, most of them gynecological, as well as extracting semen samples, blood, and tissues. Sometimes, implants are surgically implanted.

There have been cases, too, where the victim is coerced into having sexual relations with another human who is also aboard the craft, or with one of the demonic entities.  The victims are given telepathic messages during the procedures telling them that they were ‘chosen’ for good, and that they were created by these extraterrestrial beings (demons/fallen angels/nephilim).

Many abductees have reported seeing compartments or rooms where human hybrids (half nephilim, half human) are being kept. They are told that these hybrids belong to them (the abductee) and that they are to personally interrelate with them.  The victim is then returned home, usually deeply traumatized, and with little to no clothing.  Most abductees have little to no memory of the event immediately; rather, the memories slowly come to them through dreams and visions. It is noteworthy to mention that victims usually have unexplainable marks, and pain in the genital region upon their return.

Nephilim/Demonic Abductions: Are They Real and Why?

“Abductions are complex series of events and procedures directed by the abductors to passive or controlled abductees. In a typical or common abductions, humans are taken out of their normal environment by aliens. The people are rendered passive and cannot resist. They are taken aboard a UFO, their clothes are removed and they are made to lie on a table. A series of physical, mental, and productive procedures are then administered to the subjects. People’s physical bodies are probed and examined. Sperm is taken, eggs are harvested.

“After the table procedures, abductees report that they are sometimes taken into other rooms where they are required to have skin on skin contact with unusual looking babies. Abductees say that these babies seem to be crosses between humans and aliens. They call them “hybrids.” Abductees also see hybrid toddlers, older youth, adolescents, and adults.

“Sometimes abductees report that they are required to perform tasks, that they are “tested” in some way. They say that machines are brought in to examine them. They sometimes are required to have a form of sexual intercourse with other humans, and sometimes with adolescent and adult hybrids. They are returned to their normal environment and within seconds, they forget what has just happened to them.”
But the question is, why? Most Christian experts on the matter believe that they are experimenting for their demonic-nephilim interbreeding program, in order to produce half-angel, half-human hybrids.  Some victims are told that it will allow prospective generations of ‘aliens’ (nephilim) to better fit in with the human race.

Alien Abduction Caught on Tape

In fact, CK Quarterman in his article on the matter brings up an interesting point:

“People familiar with early abduction cases, know that often a needle was inserted into a female abductees navel and fluid extraction would take place, at the time (50’s & 60’s) this procedure which would later be known as amniocentesis was yet unknown to science. This was an attempt by fallen angels to check the human reproductive system to determine whether humans would be compatible for their breeding program. This must not have achieved the desired effect because the most recent abductions are involving direct sex.

“These sexual encounters are now becoming a more and more common theme in recent abductions. It is easy for any researcher to witness the progression from breeding compatibility testing, to direct sexual mating.  Although modern urologists cringe at the mention of any fallen angelic/demonic involvement, the bulk of abduction cases provide ample proof however, that they can be seen within the context of demonic involvement. While all this talk of angels, mating with human females at the dawn of time, annoys the believer in extraterrestrial visitors and of course the ancient astronaut theorists. It is the truth and the modern component existing within the UFO phenomenon.  (C.K. Quarterman)

These are not ‘space aliens’ they are Nephilim! They have been on the earth before, they are here now, and they will ‘be seen’ on the earth again.  Will you be prepared when this happens?

“The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.” (Ecc 1:9)

Jesus Christ even brushed on the matter in Matt. 24:37 when He told His disciples that the days of his return would be like the days of Noah:

But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

“There were giants (Nephilim / hybrids) in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God (b’nai elohim) came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.” (Gen 6:4)

God has been restraining the full reappearance of the angelic “sons of God” who sinned with the daughters of men. God will stop restraining their appearance in our realm (2 Thess 2:6).

A great deception is coming that is unlike any other man has ever experienced in times past. The Nephilim are appearing as aliens, telling people lies, including that they seeded life on earth, hoping to do away with all religions.  The antichrist and the false prophet will both perform miracles, and many will be taken by their deception; yet both of them will be demonic, nephilim hybrids. Their desire? To exercise complete control over the entire earth. Jesus Himself confirmed in Matthew and Luke that in the end times, we would witness UFO’s, abductions, and Nephilim hybrids, who are the children of the fallen angels.

These are those days!  Again, are you ready?

NOTE: As you watch the below footage, keep in mind what I have stated in the article above, and that they are NOT space aliens, but demonic entities—fallen angels/Nephilim! However, I am posting these to show you some of the information on this, some of the reports, and that it does happen!

IS THIS PHOTOGRAPHIC PROOF THAT FAIRIES ARE REAL?

Lecturer John Hyatt claims to have captured these images of the mythical creatures in the Rossendale Valley, Lancashire.

And the 53-year-old Manchester Metropolitan University lecturer says he is on a mission to get more adults to believe and ‘bring a bit of magic into their lives.’
John Hyatt, Director of Manchester Institute for Research and Innovation in Art and Design (MIRIAD) at Manchester Metropolitan University snapped images of what he claims are the tiny winged creatures whilst out photographing the Lancashire landscape over the last two years.
And he has now put his photographs on display at a special exhibition, reports the Manchester Evening News.
John, who was a member of the Three Johns punk band in the 1980s and 1990s, insists his photos are genuine and have not been altered in any way.

And he says adults that have seen them have begun to harbour ideas that they may indeed be real.
He said: “It was a bit of a shock when I blew them up, I did a double take.”
“I went out afterwards and took pictures of flies and gnats and they just don’t look the same.”
“People can decide for themselves what they are.”
“The message to people is to approach them with an open mind.”
“I think it’s one of those situations where you need to believe to see.”
“A lot of people who have seen them say they have brought a little bit of magic into their lives and there’s not enough of that around.”
John, who lives Rawtenstall, has posted some of his images on social media and says they have attracted much debate.
The exhibition, called Rossendale Fairies, will be on show at The Whitaker Museum in Whitaker Park in Rossendale, throughout the spring.
John said the name is a nod to the famous story of the Cottingley fairies where two schoolgirls in Bradford claimed to have photographed fairies in their garden, which they confirmed 60 years later had been faked with cardboard cut-outs.
However he admits the creatures he snapped are a long way from the characters depicted in children’s stories and hopes his pictures will change people’s perceptions of them.
“Everything gets stereotyped, whatever it is.”
“But there are stranger things in life than fairies, and life grows everywhere.”
“I don’t believe they are just smaller versions of us and go home and have a cup of tea at the end of the day.”
“From my experience they were just enjoying themselves and there was a little dance in the sunlight going on.”
“They are just beautiful pictures and beauty can make people believe.”

Forget a Ouija Board, What if You Can Conjure a Ghost With Your Mind?

We've all been there — you freak yourself out telling stories or watching a horror movie and all of a sudden you're seeing poltergeists everywhere. But what about people who have actually caused paranormal phenomena to happen, with just the power of their brains?
One of the most famous explorations of the link between the paranormal and the mind is The Philip experiment, which tested a group's ability to "create a ghost" from a fictional narrative. These experiments have informed much of modern parapsychology, even making it into cinema. In The Quiet Ones, a group of psychology students perform experiments inspired by The Philip Experiment on a young girl, Jane Harper, who harbors unspeakable secrets, resulting in a truly terrify outcome. I looked at The Philip Experiment and spoke with a psychiatrist about whether or not telekinesis and other paranormal phenomena can be explained using what we know about the human brain.

The Philip Experiment

In the early 1970s, a group of parapsychological researchers — known as The Owen Group — from the Toronto Society for Psychical Research decided to test the theory that paranormal visitations are merely a product of the human mind by seeing if they could use their collective fear and belief to create a spirit, named Philip, and force it to manifest.
The group began by envisioning a history for Philip — they even drew his portrait. They then spent an entire year discussing Philip, meditating on his image and willing him to appear to them. In 1973, during a traditional spiritualist séance in which members placed their hands on a table and spoke and sang to Philip, he began to communicate. He began by rapping on the table, answering questions related to the history that they had created for him, and also correctly answering questions outside of his own mythology, but still within the collective knowledge of the group.
Telekinetic happenings were reported, such as the lights dimming when the group would request Philip lower them. The Philip experiment worked so well that the Owen group took him to the small screen — filming a séance in front of a live audience of fifty people, during which the table reportedly levitated. Iris Owen and Margaret Sparrow, both members of The Owen Group, also wrote a book about the experiment, called Conjuring Up Philip.

Evidence of the Paranormal?

Some saw the Philip experiment as proof that people can, with enough will power, connect with a spiritual or paranormal world, while others saw the test as proof human consciousness creates such experiences. I spoke with psychiatrist Dr. Robert Stein, about what he thinks links the paranormal and the human mind.
"What I don't believe is that there are people hanging around in the ether waiting to talk to us," he began, but went on to say that it's not as simple as saying that these things are hoaxes, or that everyone who claims to have had a paranormal experience is a fraud. Citing the frequency of simultaneous scientific discovery, and the phenomena of mass hysteria, Stein suggests that group experiences of the supernatural are either the result group projection or products of the fact that human energy — specifically ideas — are more tangible than we think.
"There is no reason to think that ideas travel any differently than, say, radio waves," he said. The same way radio waves can cross great distances, perhaps brain waves can pass through the air, creating physical, telekinetic changes in the environment and shared understanding. "There are so many examples of people around the world coming to the same conclusion at exactly the same time, it's possible that the mind is more powerful than we think."
With this in mind, there are two possible explanations for the Philip Experiment's success: either the participants were so wrapped up in their fantasy that they interpreted everyday phenomena to support their desire for a paranormal encounter, or they were actually creating a change in their environment with their brain waves. There's also a third option: that the whole thing was a hoax.
What do you think: are experiences of the paranormal the result of spirits on another plane, or is it all the result of the human mind?

(Video) MH370: Expert – US Knows ‘More’ Than It’s Saying About Missing Plane

As information comes out regarding the missing Malaysia Flight 370, more questions are surfacing, specifically about the lack of connecting the dots on the part of the mainstream media. Why are they not reporting everything? Are they once again holding back information from the general public at the request of Washington? Why is the Alternative Media having to do the heavy lifting, forcing the MSM to finally report the news, only after it is public knowledge?

From the start something has been "off" with the way this missing flight 370 was reported on, then to find out cell phones of the missing were ringing through, the transponders being turned off deliberately, the flight continued on for far longer than originally reported, no wreckage found, searched being conducted in the complete wrong area, the passengers being DoD employees who just happened to be working on technology that could have included "cloaking" and vanishing objects, and a whole host of other anomalies.

While the MSM attempts to ignore the ramifications of the last radar ping from the missing Malaysia Flight 370 being exactly on the US military base Diego Garcia, folks at #MH370 via Twitter, are not.

Headline yesterday...... something huge is coming, be prepared.

In the video below as well as some articles around the internet we see that for the first time in history, Israel is closing all it’s embassies and consulates worldwide. I agree with DAHBOO here, the timing, the events going on across the globe, the missing Malaysia flight and the potential for this plane that is missing since March 9th possibly being used in a terrorist attack, all indicate that Israel is bringing their people back home where they can be protected, no matter what they claim is the “official” reason.

Israel recently threatened to “destroy” those that would attack them and a move like this, a historical move, could very well mean that Israel expects World War III to break out and is acting accordingly.

Something huge is coming… be prepared.

The Mysterious Cryptid Relics of Japan

Japan is home to thousands of Buddhist temples and Shinto shrines too numerous to list. These shrines and temples are renowned by tourists from all over the world, who come to enjoy their serene beauty and cultural heritage. They can be found everywhere, from deep in the remote mountains, to craggy coastlines, to wedged between skyscrapers and crowded shopping streets, bizarrely melding the modern with the ancient. Practically every municipality in Japan has at least one temple or shrine, with historical cities such as Kyoto boasting several thousand.

More than just places of tranquil beauty or places of worship, the shrines and temples of Japan are also often places tasked with the housing of sacred relics. These can be important historical artifacts, irreplaceable national treasure, or priceless items of cultural heritage, yet on occasion there can be far stranger things locked away from the bustling tourists. Some temples and shrines in Japan have become known for harboring the remains of bizarre creatures, monsters, and supposedly long extinct animals, all of which potentially hold great crypozoological significance.
What mysteries can we find past the rock gardens, ornate gates, and within the lacquered wood halls of these ancient temples? Here we will look at some of these cryptid relics that have found their way to Japan’s temples and shrines.
Many of the alleged remains of strange creatures are of cryptids that have strong folkloric ties. One such creature is the legendary Kappa of Japan’s waterways.  One of the most well known cryptids of Japan, the Kappa is a mysterious, bipedal water dwelling creature said to inhabit Japan’s rivers and streams. They are typically described as being the size of a child of 6 to 10 years of age and resembling a cross between a turtle, monkey, and lizard. Kappa are often depicted as having a shell on their backs, similar to a turtle’s, and having a beak like mouth. Some reports have made mention of patchy, scraggly hair covering the body.

Several temples in Japan are purported to have the remains of Kappa. Zuiryūji temple in Osaka, Japan, is one such place, thought to have a full Kappa mummy which it  reportedly came into its possession in 1682. The mummy is around 70 centimeters long and looks vaguely humanoid. It has thin arms, a mouth full of needle like teeth, and a crown of scraggly hair atop its head. The alleged Kappa is not on public display, and it is not uncommon to have requests to view it denied.

Another temple somewhat well-known for its Kappa remains is Sogen-ji, located in the Asakusa area of Tokyo, a popular and crowded area known for its various temples and historical attractions that attract droves of tourists from all over the world. The area around Sogen-ji is steeped in Kappa lore, and is said to have once been infested by the creatures. Kappa were known to be mischievous and even downright hostile on occasion, so the temple is said to have been built to appease them. Sogen-ji is so entwined with Kappa folklore that it is often referred to as “Kappa Dera,” or “Kappa Temple.”
Within Sosen-ji’s grounds one can find statues, murals, and elaborate drawings of Kappa, as well as piles of cucumber, said to be the Kappa’s favorite food,  left as offerings by guests. Of course the main attraction is the supposed Kappa hand, encased in glass within one of the temple’s halls. The hand is mummified and cut off at the wrist, with bone exposed. The hand has long, bony fingers that end in claws. It is not clear what the exact origins of the hand are, and it is often dismissed as a mere mummified monkey hand, yet since no one is allowed to handle the relic it is hard to say for sure.
Sosenji Kappa hand

Another area with strong Kappa lore is the city of Tono, located in Iwate Prefecture in  northeastern Japan. Like the Sosen-ji temple area, Tono has long been said to be inhabited by Kappa and it is thought they still can be found in the area to this day. The city boasts a few temples purported to be in the possession of various mummified Kappa remains, some that are reportedly hundreds of years old.
Other creatures well known from Japanese folklore are the Tengu and Raijū. The Tengu are legendary winged, avian humanoids that were seen as protectors of the mountains. The creatures were often sighted in feudal Japan, where they were seen as almost godlike entities with magical powers such as telepathy and shape shifting. Many people of the time considered the Tengu to be very real, and shogun were even said to have the creatures moved out of areas before important visits due to their often mischievous or aggressive behavior.
tengu_part2[1]
In addition to such stories, there are various relics concerning Tengu contained within temples. There is a scroll at a temple in Shizuoka prefecture which allegedly contains a written apology penned by a Tengu. It is told that the creature was captured in the 17th century by the high priest of the temple and forced to write the apology after harassing travelers in the area.
The Hachinohe Museum in Aomori prefecture houses the alleged mummified remains of a Tengu. The skull of these remains is humanoid, while the body is covered with feathers and the feet are like that of a bird. Another temple in Saitama prefecture keeps what is said to be the talon of a Tengu, while still another supposedly has the beaked skull of one.
tengu2[1]
Another creature of legend with such remains is the Raijū, or literally “Thunder Beast,” who were said to be the mighty servants of the Shinto god of thunder. These creatures were most often described as looking something like a badger, weasel, cat, or fox, although they were sometimes said to look like a wolf or monkey as well, often with wings or multiple tails. They are quite often depicted as being wreathed in crackling lightning, and their voices were the boom of thunder. During storms, these creatures would become very agitated, frantically dashing about and leaping from tree to tree, tearing up the bark in the process with their formidable claws. In Japanese folklore, it was said that trees scored by lighting had been the work of Raijū claws. They were also known to swoop down and slash at passerby.
raijyu2[1]
Occasionally living specimens were captured and displayed. One such Raijū allegedly fell into a well in Izumo province, where it became hopelessly entangled in ropes and was captured alive. The creature was subsequently exhibited within a cage of brass in the court of the Tenjin temple.
The animal was said to resemble a badger, yet with a longer tail and oversized claws. When the weather was clear, the Raijū was quite docile, sleeping quietly in its cage most of the time. However, during storms it would become a ferocious, hissing beast, and its eyes  were said to flicker and flash as if filled with lightning. The creature refused to eat or drink during its captivity and eventually died. Its body is said to have been preserved and kept on the premises for some time before they were reportedly destroyed in a fire.
Besides this account of a living specimen, there are some other temples said to have the mummified remains of Raijū.  One such mummy is kept at Yuzanji temple in Iwate prefecture. The mummy looks very much like a cat, only misshapen and with longer legs. It was allegedly received in the 1960s as a donation from a parishioner, although the exact origin of the mummy is not known. Another similar looking Raijū mummy is kept at Saishoji temple in Niigata prefecture.
Yuzanji Temple Raiju mummy

Another bizarre relic is the teeth of a supposed sea serpent kept at a temple along the rugged coast of Western Japan. Legend has it that a priest was strolling along the beach contemplating matters of faith when he came across a large, terrifying sea creature, described as “a dragon,” washed up on the beach. The priest took this as a sign of sorts, and wanted to acquire the beast for the temple, yet it was much too large to take back with him so he removed some of the teeth instead. The priest then took his prize back to the temple where the “dragon teeth” supposedly remain to this day, although apparently not available for viewing by the public.
Still other temples and shrines in Japan hold the remains of other very famous Japanese cryptids. One temple in Okayama prefecture has what is said to be a preserved specimen of a tsuchinoko, which is a type of cryptid snake believed to inhabit the remote mountains of Japan. The tsuchinoko resembles a viper, but with a bulging body thicker than the head. It is reported to make a wide range of vocalizations and is known for its unusual methods of locomotion, such as jumping or even rolling along like a wheel. It is such a popular cryptid in Japan that some rural areas hold regular tsuchinoko hunts and offer sizeable rewards for a specimen.

Another cryptid in Japan is a creature that actually is known to have existed. The supposedly extinct Honshu wolf was the world’s smallest species of wolf, standing just a little over a foot at the shoulder. They were once common throughout their former range of Honshu, Kyushu, and Shikoku Islands, and were often worshipped as forest protectors. Sadly, their numbers declined due to rabies and hunting brought upon by changing attitudes towards the wolves. The last Honshu wolf is widely believed to have died in 1905, although they are still reportedly sighted in many isolated regions to this day.
Honshu wolf

However, in 1994, one shrine in Tottori prefecture was found to possess a specimen of the Honshu wolf that is thought to have possibly died as recently as the 1950s. If these remains are the real deal, then it would significantly push back the accepted extinction date and give more fuel to the idea that the wolves could still survive somewhere in the mountains of Japan. Unfortunately, the remains are considered sacred by the shrine, and as such requests to test them have been denied.
Even more remains can be found throughout the temples and shrines of Japan. Mermaids, demons, and two-headed monsters also count among some of the more fantastical and bizarre examples of these.
3 faced demon mummy at Zengyoji Temple

What all of these cases have in common is that they offer the tantalizing possibility of something all cryptozoologists strive for, which is concrete physical evidence. What would we find if we were to be allowed access to these remains with our modern DNA testing techniques? Would we find the proof we are looking for, or the creative taxidermy many claim these remains really are? Would we not learn something either way?
Unfortunately, these remains are considered sacred relics and not available for our attempts at answers. Many of them are locked away and not even available for viewing, let alone proper scientific analysis.  As much as we would like to crack open these mysteries and pull away the curtains of uncertainty, it seems that some mysteries will forever be out of our grasp. In the case of these mysterious temples of Japan, it seems that we must resign ourselves to being  satisfied with their architectural magnificence and historical value, while only allowing our curiosity to approach further as we wonder at and ponder what mysteries may lie beyond their doors.
