Elon Musk wants to put a MILLION people on Mars by 2100

Space agencies are gearing up to send humans to Mars by 2030.

But this isn't enough for SpaceX chief, Elon Musk. Instead of a small crew, he wants to send a million people to the red planet by the end of the century.

The Tesla-founder believes that shuttling humans to Mars will be the only way to save humanity from extinction.

'I think there is a strong humanitarian argument for making life multi-planetary,' Musk said in a recent interview with Ross Andersen at digital magazine Aeon.

'Excluding organic growth, if you could take 100 people at a time, you would need 10,000 trips to get to a million people,' Musk added.

'But you would also need a lot of cargo to support those people. In fact, your cargo to person ratio is going to be quite high.'  However, Musk believes the feat is feasible. 

'It would probably be 10 cargo trips for every human trip, so more like 100,000 trips. And we're talking 100,000 trips of a giant spaceship.'

Last year at the AllThingsD conference, Musk said that he believes humans need to either colonise other planets or risk going extinct – a fate he describes as 'inevitable' if we stay on Earth.

His views were recently echoed by Brian Cox who claims 'humanity stupidity' will spell the end for mankind. Cox claims climate change, asteroids and crop disease are our biggest threats.

Musk told Aeon that the absence of any noticeable life on other planets may suggest that the days of humans populating Earth are numbered. 

'If you look at our current technology level, something strange has to happen to civilisations, and I mean strange in a bad way,' he added.

'And it could be that there are a whole lot of dead, one-planet civilisations.'

Mars, he believes, could provide a solution to helping mankind survive in a hostile universe.

The first group of settlers, he says, will need to pay their own way. He likens the trip to when people moved to the early American colonies.

Earlier this year, Musk announced his SpaceX firm was making 'progress' towards establishing a smaller colony on the red planet by 2020.

Elon Musk has previously said he created SpaceX for the sole reason of developing rocket technology to get people to Mars. He expects to sell tickets for $500,000 (£296,900) a trip.

The 'ghost' of a woman appeared in a photograph of a dying grandad taken as the vicar read the elderly man his last rites at his hospital bedside.

Ailing Bob Large, 76, had been told by doctors that his bladder cancer and kidney failure were terminal and that he had a matter of days left to live.

During a hospital visit, his grandson, Chris Leadbetter, took what he thought would be a last picture of his grandad on his mobile phone.

However, the resulting snap appears to show something much spookier - a 'guardian angel' figure watching over the man's hospital bed in Chester, Cheshire.

And Bob is certain the spooky apparition is responsible for his turnaround.

Stunned, Chris showed the image to hospital staff, but they merely shrugged it off, saying: "Oh, her. Lots of patients see her at the end of their beds".

The manager of Ward 44, totally unprompted, then went on to describe the "long haired blonde girl in a white gown" captured in the photo.

And to make the scene even more out of the ordinary, Bob not only made a miraculous recovery but has since been released from hospital.

Royal astronomer: ‘Aliens may be staring us in the face’

He made the remarks shortly after hosting the national science academy’s first conference on the possibility of alien life.

“They could be staring us in the face and we just don’t recognise them. The problem is that we’re looking for something very much like us, assuming that they at least have something like the same mathematics and technology,” he said.

“I suspect there could be life and intelligence out there in forms we can’t conceive. Just as a chimpanzee can’t understand quantum theory, it could be there as aspects of reality that are beyond the capacity of our brains.”

Lord Rees used the conference in January, entitled “The Detection of Extraterrestrial Life and the Consequences for Science and Society”, to ask whether the discovery of aliens would cause terror or delight on earth.

He told Prospect magazine that improved telescopes made the chance of finding extra-terrestrial life “better than ever”.
But Dr Frank Drake, the world’s leading “ET hunter”, told the conference that satellite TV and the “digital revolution” was making humanity invisible to aliens by cutting the transmission of TV and radio signals into space.

At present, the Earth is surrounded by a 50 light year-wide “shell” of radiation from analogue TV, radio and radar transmissions. But although the signals have spread far enough to reach many nearby star systems, they are rapidly vanishing in the wake of digital technology, according to Dr Drake.

The scientist, who founded the Search for Extra-terrestrial Intelligence  organisation in the United States, said digital TV signals would look like noise to a race of observing aliens.

A Beacon in the Land of Pharaohs: What the Great Pyramid Looked Like More than 4000 Years Ago

Though I've never had the pleasure to visit Egypt and contemplate the massive splendor of the Great Pyramid (yet), modern tourists will never truly grasp why sheer size and geometric perfection weren't the only things that made this monument the biggest wonder of the Ancient World.

That's because what remains of the pyramid attributed to the pharaoh Khufu is now almost completely devoid of its outer layer of highly polished limestone blocks, which would have made it look shiny white to the naked eye, and easy to spot for many miles around - a vision Egyptologist Dr. Jacquelyn Williamson has tried to recreate using the magic of CGI for a documentary produced by the Smithsonian channel.

I hope the documentary remembers to mention an oft-forgotten aspect in the mystery of the Great Pyramid: that of the missing capstone, which some believed was made of pure gold -- and which was supposedly going to be replaced as part of a grandiose ceremony at the start of the current millennium.

Seeing how the structure was covered in a bright material such as limestone, it makes sense the top portion of the pyramid, which would have been hit first by the ray of the rising sun, should have been made of an equally-reflective or more reflective substance, in order to turn it into a beacon presiding over the land of the pharaohs, bringing forth illumination from the realm of the gods.

Man in Rock Hill Reports ORB on Surveillance Cam and Holes in Yard

A Rock Hill man believed that recent “strange activity” could possibly be from alien origin, his evidenced included an unidentified flying object and three holes in his yard. This past weekend, he reported the incident to York County deputies.

He told the deputies that there was a history of break-ins on his property, then he showed the Rock Hill officers his surveillance cam video of a “small bright ball fly on screen, hover for a few seconds, then fly off again.” The man also brought the officers to his yard where he claims three mysterious holes mysteriously appeared in his yard, he commented that the grass was “pressed down in a circular pattern.”

Rock Hill officers proceeded to tell the man that they saw “nothing criminal” about the video or the marks in the yard.
